"The steam tug Wattle is historically, socially and technologically significant at the national level as the only small harbour steam tug still surviving in Victoria."

What We'll Do with Donations to Wattle's Restoration Fund

Wattle painting

We'll put Wattle on the slipway, scrub it clean and repaint it. (International Paint has already confirmed its sponsorship and the Port of Melbourne has waived the slipping fees!) We'll get essentials such as 55 new life jackets to Australian Maritime Safety Authority standards, lifebuoys and pyrotechnic devices.

Wattle Galley

We'll complete the galley and install purpose-designed cupboards under the custom-built stainless steel top. We'll install a refrigerator, microwave, food warmer and urn — all the mod cons necessary for Wattle's happy passengers. We'll install audio-visual equipment and complete other fitouts.

Wattle Plans

We'll train staff and pay insurances, licence fees for food and liquor services, and Australian Maritime Safety Authority fees. We'll arrange survey requirements such as an Inclining Experiment, Light Ship Assessment, and Stability Book: all that's needed to get Wattle back into safe, reliable service.

Wattle New day

We'll get on with all the necessary administrative tasks of making Wattle a viable, vibrant highlight of Melbourne's waterfront scene once more. And your donation will not only help us do all that, but it will allow you to come aboard for sailing excursions to enjoy Wattle's new facilities!
